2009
During a recent design competition, Randall and Brandy Hurt added 5 awards to their growing list of accolades. Since opening in 2004, they have annually competed in the Missouri Jewelers and Watchmakers Association Design Competition. With over 200 members eligible to enter the competition, entries are judged on the MJWA's strict guidelines for professionalism and high ethical standards in the jewelry trade. Brandy's two entries consisted of an Aquamarine, Danburite & Diamond enhancer pendant and a Pink Spinel & Diamond floral ring. She won the Best of Show award, in additon to a 1st place prize, for the pendant(pictured above).
She also garnered a 1st place award for the Spinel & Diamond ring
Randall's single entry, a Blue Sapphire & Diamond ring (pictured above), won a 2nd place award. He was also honored with the Craftsmanship Award for his creation of the Best of Show Aquamarine pendant. The Craftsmanship Award has a special importance for Randall, as it signifies that the panel of judges determined his piece exhibited the highest level of skill in its creation.
2008
(pictured) Randall Hurt MJWA Best of Show, Craftsmanship Award, & 1st Place - "The Earth is our Pearl" Necklace. 14K White gold hinged pendant set with a Black Opal to represent the Earth, a Sphene set in 18K Yellow represents the sun, a Moonstone for the moon and accented with White Diamond Stars and Yellow Diamond accents, all hanging from a strand of graduated Tahitian Pearls. Brandy Hurt MJWA 1st Place - Hand Fabricated Palladium and 18K Yellow Gold necklace set with a Madeira Citrine.
This piece has most recently been recognized nationally, garnering a 1st place prize at the Jewelers of America annual competition in New York City.
2007
Randall Hurt MJWA 1st Place Man's evening wear finger ring cast in Palladium from a hand carved wax and overlaid with hand-fabricated Platinum plates and tubes. Set with a natural color-change star sapphire, Alexandrites and Diamonds. The sapphire changes from a faint pink in incandescant light to a green cast gray in sunlight. MJWA Craftsmanship Award Received the Craftsmanship Award for the manufacture of the articulated earrings designed by daughter Brandy. Brandy Hurt MJWA 1st Place Hand fabricated 18K Yellow Gold and Palladium Gentleman's ring set with a emerald-cut Orange Sapphire and adorned with round Diamonds. MJWA 1st Place Hand Fabricated 14K Yellow Gold and Palladium articulated earrings set with Green Tourmalines, Garnets and Sunset Tourmalines, all trilliant cut and adorned with round Diamonds.
2006
(pictured) Brandy Hurt MJWA Best of Show &1st Place - Cultured Pearl Necklace featuring a hand fabricated reversible 18K Rose and White Gold drop set with round Diamonds, Pearls, Pink Coral and Opal. This piece went on to win the internationally prestigious AGTA Spectrum 1st Place, Bridal Division in 2007.
Randall Hurt MJWA Craftsmanship & 2nd Place - Hand Formed Bracelet from cold-rolled Palladium bar stock, embellished with 24K Yellow Gold wire, set with 3 Tahitian Pearls. MJWA 1st Place - Ladies Finger Ring in 18K Green Gold set with a cushion cut yellow Beryl and 6 yellow Diamonds.
2005
(pictured below) Randall Hurt MJWA Best of Show & 1st Place - Ladies Finger Ring hand fabricated of Platinum sheet and 18K Green Gold, set with a trilliant cut Blue Sapphire and 94 diamonds. MJWA Craftsmanship Award- Shared with Brandy on her 1st place Gent's Ring Brandy Hurt MJWA 1st Place & Craftsmanship Award - 14K Red and White Gold Gentleman's Finger ring set with a round Tourmaline, and accented with brown Diamonds and white Diamonds. The craftsmanship award was shared between father and daughter because Brandy carved the model, and Randy did the metal work. MJWA 1st Place Apprentice - Gentleman's 10K Gold finger ring set with a 14mm square cabachon Turquoise.
